Fortecho Industry is an active RFID solution for protecting, monitoring and managing both assets and personnel in a variety of industrial settings. These include data centres, construction sites, warehouses, and logistics companies, as well as the diverse environments of the entertainment, healthcare, and oil and gas industries. Fortecho Industry wirelessly monitors for theft, damage, and environmental change, and tracks the locations of assets or personnel—all in real-time across multiple locations. We deploy a variety of fit-for-function sensors tailored to meet specialised needs, ranging from ATEX-approved tags for oil and gas environments to ruggedised motion sensors for outdoor construction sites, and from hypo-allergenic personnel tags for the healthcare industry to metal-optimised tags for data centres. Fortecho Industry is an end to end solution that will integrate seamlessly with your existing security infrastructure, including CCTV, SMS, VMS, radio and intruder detection systems.
In our digital age, cloud-based networking has become the standard for government organisations, financial institutions and enterprises, global system integrators, telecommunication carriers, managed service providers and other hosting businesses. Active RFID systems help monitor critical assets in these server farms, warning when they are moved, physically auditing individual assets every 30 seconds, alerting when racks are opened without authorisation, tracking engineers in real-time, and—crucially—measuring the local environment inside server racks and triggering alerts if heat thresholds are breached.
Our Fortecho solution for construction sites will protect expensive machinery from theft, and safeguard employees working too close to dangerous equipment. The system can be integrated with Time and Attendance systems to ensure that site labour is at its most effective and to maximise productivity, and it can also be used for mustering. Asset utilisation is optimised, as the system can be used to locate plant machinery and tools in real-time, ensuring that the rental of expensive equipment is well-managed—all of which provides an excellent ROI.
As well increasing productivity and efficiency, the use of active RFID in warehousing offers an extra layer of security. Fortecho Solutions has installed systems in art storage sites to protect high value art assets; in steel facilities to protect workers from dangerous moving equipment; and in commodity warehouses to monitor valuable base metals and guard against theft. In storage businesses the theft of items, their misplacement, and time wasted looking for them can all be crippling. Fortecho Industry’s real-time inventory tracking, location of assets, and monitoring of temperature and humidity ensure that items are fully protected and kept safe from theft, loss, and damage.
Fortecho Industry has wide-ranging logistics applications. Our system can be used to monitor important assets at key points in the supply chain including the security of trailers and containers stored in yards; to collect real-time inventory information of assets in storage; to monitor the location of empty / loaded cargo containers; to track high value assets in their maintenance cycle; and to monitor with great precision the environmental conditions of goods in transit or storage.
In oil refineries and gas plants the safety of employees is paramount, and requires special care and close-management in the event of an evacuation. Our solutions enable effective, reliable mustering with real-time information on the location of personnel, designed for easy interpretation by first responders, evacuation wardens, security staff and facilities teams.
Active RFID systems are used in theme parks and studio tours to track visitors and protect high value props from damage and theft. Our systems help the entertainment industry monitor, protect and track people and assets in high-traffic environments. We combine the latest technologies to alert against unauthorised approach too near to film sets and vulnerable props; to provide detailed alarm information to staff on the ground; and to measure footfall, which is crucial in crowd control, mustering and disaster-recovery scenarios. Our system can also deploy tamper-proof tags for children to track them should they get lost and, in combination with CCTV, enable them to be rapidly found and brought back to their guardians.

Optimising visitor viewing experience, efficient people flow and security in dynamic ‘tour’ environments is a challenge. To count visitors, track the relative popularity of certain zones and to ensure that all those who enter also leave, we deploy sophisticated people counters, capable of detecting tailgating. For deterring the overly curious, or opportunistic thieves we use a combination of programmable curtain lasers, wireless PIR sensors and sounders that send local alarms when visitors get close to objects, and notify security when even closer. Props and the set itself are protected directly using miniature wireless tags that send real-time alerts to security and floor-level staff via radios, pagers and the Fortecho Industry software.

Sensors communicate wirelessly with RFID Receivers or ‘Readers’ at distances of 15-70m indoors, or up to 200m outdoors. These receivers communicate directly with the Fortecho software. A number of receivers create a networked cocoon of RFID coverage within which all assets are monitored. Tags communicate at 433.92 MHz allowing encoded messages to penetrate most materials (including walls, floors and ceilings). Receivers may therefore be positioned back-of-house or hidden inside or behind walls and furniture, though some of our clients prefer to mount them in front of house areas as a visual deterrent to would-be thieves. Only a few receivers are required to cover any given space. Receivers are interrogated 200 times/ second by the software for failure/ disruption/ RF Jamming. We offer two receiver options: serial (IS-RX210) and Ethernet PoE (IS-RX1310) .
Operating independently of your network, the IS-RX210 is a serial receiver that communicates with the processing PC via one or more hubs connected via Cat5 or Cat6 cabling. These receivers may use pre-existing cabling and may be daisy-chained to one another for ease of cabling. Each Fortecho Hub can support up to 10 receivers and requires a local power supply.
Our latest receiver, the IS-RX1310 is a PoE Ethernet device, which is more robust and features the latest in cutting-edge security. It has its own IP address and communicates directly with the operating PC over the site’s [dedicated] network. It doesn’t require any additional hardware, is easy to service, and in the unlikely event of the receiver being compromised other receivers nearby are not affected and can shoulder the burden.
Fortecho integrates with most intruder detection, CCTV, TETRA radio, security management (SMS) and video management (VMS) software systems. This means consolidated alarms, fewer screens, fewer cables, automatic activation and control of CCTV cameras, real-time asset alarm information overlaying video footage and more.
Alarms can be presented with the following information: Asset type or object image, Asset or object information, location image, alarm priority, event timings, suggested action, reader information and floor map, alarm data transmitted to pagers and/or security radios, and zonal tracking function.

The best way to get a quote is via a form on the Contact Us page. To give an accurate quote, we must get some basic information from you on what types of assets you need to protect, quantities, level of integration and an understanding of your requirements and the space in question. Working from floor plans can be extremely helpful at this stage. Due to the nature of the application, we appreciate the sensitivity of this information and encourage the signing of mutual non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) which we can provide.
Most processes are automated, so once an asset is tagged minimal management is required. IT/Security/Facilities/Operations Staff may prefer to rely on their suppliers or an internal rollout team for asset tagging, though Fortecho Solutions also offers a tagging and registration service.
Fortecho Industry benefits various internal departments and is networkable; it only shows information specific to the department’s needs. Security controllers have limited access to the software, and really only react to security/safety alerts or monitor the flow of assets through a protected area. Once Fortecho Industry is installed, Registrars and Auditors may print out what is in and what is out of the building on any given day and make that information available to other departments for an up-to-date accurate balance sheet.
