Art protection is the monitoring of individual assets against theft, damage and harmful changes in the immediate environmental conditions. It is achieved using a combination of long life wireless active RFID tags and enterprise software. The active tags immediately report any movement to the asset as well as live streaming data on the temperature, humidity and light. The software interrogate this data and displays it as alarm messages, or stores it for future analytics.
The system is split into three parts: Wireless Tags, RFID Receivers and Software. The reader network makes up the bulk of the cost with the tags retailing at about 10% of their cost (and lasting 7-10 years). The price of the software is based on a licence fee made up of the amount of readers and tags deployed on site. For further information on pricing please contact Fortecho directly. All our systems are bespoke and designed to meet individual customer needs. The size of the system, the hardware used or the amount of integration all have a bearing when it comes to price. However, a Fortecho system is always modular, which means customers can start by installing a small system in a single room or gallery and expand from there as and when budgets allow. A lot of our institutional clients take this approach.
We have a proven record of securing a large variety of (often obscure) objects very successfully. From natural history museums to coin collections, delicate China to contemporary sculpture we have seen it all. We are not limited to art objects but protect high value assets of all kind. This includes watches, handbags, wine collections and even fur coats.
A good art protection system goes beyond basic theft prevention. It helps you to manage your assets and the conditions they are kept in. Our tags gather important data at object level and communicate the information to the software via encrypted messages. The software determines, based on user determined rules and thresholds, whether an alert needs to be triggered.Tags alert to movement, unauthorised access to display cases, tamper and more. Devices such as laser scanners can alert to proximity and remind visitors with an audible alarm to keep their distance to the objects displayed.Additionally, Fortecho tags collect data on temperature, relative humidity and light so you know at all times the exact conditions any object is being kept at. Our tags forms a tight network of control point enabling efficient and economical use of resources, while creating a safe environment for your most valuable assets. Fortecho combines security and preventative conservation

Museums use a combination of technology, physical barriers and guards to protect their collections. The use of technology has become the most important aspect of any museum’s security protocols. By tagging individual artworks and using proximity lasers a museum can create a fool-proof system and remove human error.

Through the use of Fortecho, the museum is essentially giving the artworks themselves the ability to monitor against any potential or actual threat.

Public institutions are responsible to protect their collection and preserve it for prosperity. A system such as Fortecho Solutions supports museums in this endeavour by monitoring the collection at object level. The system will prevent theft by alerting to movement and tamper, protect from damage by alert to proximity as well as closely monitor the environmental conditions an object is kept in. Changes in temperature, relative humidity and light intensity will result in alerts if certain thresholds are breached or values change too rapidly within set parameters.

No. There is practically no upper limit to the amount of tags that can be used at any one time. Some of our clients have as many as 50,000 tags report into our system without problems.

Absolutely! Integration is at the core of what we do at Fortecho. Through software we integrate with existing SMS, BMS and VMS systems. This enables improved oversight for security staff and allows them to use their existing GUI to monitor any asset alarms. Object alarms and alerts will populate on the already familiar interface.

Yes, in most cases it is. Lenders will demand assurances that certain conditions are met in terms of both theft prevention as well as environmental conditions for the duration of the loan. The tags gather valuable data that can be populated in form of reports to show lending agreement terms were met.

An asset monitoring system gathers important data and provides you with relevant information in real time. Receive instant notifications should environmental conditions reach potentially harmful levels. Receive alerts if objects are moved or display cases are opened unauthorised. Know at all times that your valuable assets are where they should be with a continuous and fully automated audit of your entire collection.

The software’s powerful reporting tools allow you to publish the data gathered in report form. The software allows you to easily prove that specific requirements are met. An invaluable tool when it comes to loan agreements and insurance requirements. In short, enjoy complete peace of mind.

We have taken great care to ensure that our system cannot be compromised: For example, all messages within the system are fully encrypted to prevent interference. If someone tries to tamper with the system, by removing a tag or by creating a Faraday cage around a tag or reader Missing alerts are triggered. An additional layer of security can be added by integrating Fortecho with existing security management systems.

Our tags have an industry leading battery life of 7-10 years. The extremely long battery life makes our tags cost efficient and reduces the need to handle the artwork unnecessarily.

Our system is completely wireless at object level, making it ideal for ever changing collections that require flexibility. Only our POE readers need to be connected to the network via standard Cat 5/6/7 cable. The readers do not need to be installed with line of sight to the tags. On the contrary, they can be installed hidden away in technical rooms, ceiling voids or other convenient spaces.
